Description:
This is quite a rugged spot - as you will see if you find the road to get you there! Macassar can deliver excellent conditions on the right days.

Wind Conditions:
SE:    Port Tack
SW:    Port Tack

Wave Conditions:
There is no protection from the Cape Peninsula, or the eastern side of False Bay, so the Atlantic Swell breaks directly onto the beach, which means bigger waves.
Additional Information:

Before the Great White Shark was almost driven to extinction, Macassar was apparently the place to go to try and catch them! An old boardsailing legend tells of a channel in the sea bed, which has a current which the sharks (affectionately known as “Johnnies” here in South Africa) cruise around in, and this apparently brings the sharks right out to Macassar.

Directions:
Take De Waal Drive from Cape Town, and then get onto the N2 Highway. Drive past the airport, for about 35 kms, until you get to the Macassar/Firgrove off-ramp. On top of the bridge, turn right, and drive into Macassar. The sea is on your left. You are looking for a dirt road on your left, at a Sewerage Works. Once you find the road, follow it all the way - it twists and turns, but you will eventually get to a beach.
