Waggy suggested we call a last minute Masters and Blasters on Friday and I still needed to pass it by the Sailors as it was their regatta day at MAC. Rev Dave McDonald gave me the sailors go ahead and I sent out a SMS to all MAC Sailors at 3pm Saturday. I truly did not expect anyone to pitch as only 24 hours notice of the race was given. Sunday arrived yet the wind did not. I got to the club to the sound of Waggys Vito's sound system going -- Ooomph Ooomph Ooomph. Waggy was all set to go, and was still clearly optimistic that the wind would arrive. And so it did, on the stroke of 3pm the Cape Doctor arrived from nowhere. It was a light one gusting between 10 to 20 knots.
The big surprise was to see 20 oaks desperate to sail. The vibe was awesome and everyone contributed by getting involved and keeping the spirit of the day casual and fun.
The prize entry was Ben Van der Steen the current No.11 in the world. Ben was beaten by Peter in race 1 yet he then got into gear and won all the rest of them.
