So apparantly a couple of the Bronkies crew went to Grootdraai last weekend. How was it? Any problems with weeds?
Myself, Eddie, Robert and Alain (the french connection) were at Bronkies on Friday with farely decent wind (westerly, 12 kts average), just very gusty. Eddie even managed to get planing on TCC's 4.5m2 sail and a 170l Go board, but mind you, he weighs less than a helium filled weather balloon, while Alain was annoying the fisherman on the western shore again with long fast runs on his 7.4m2 and his home customised board for most of the day.
The biggest issue is that the weeds are really getting out of hand, and lurks beneath the surface for more than 100m out, just waiting to catch the unwary sailor and transform a nice fast run into that favorite move; the catapult. |
