Hi there Waggy,

As you know I sail a stoke 106, in choppy conditions the "shoulders" sometimes catches, slowing me down and soometimes resulting in a catupult.I moved my mast track back but it didn;t solve the problem, what should I do?

The boards shoulders ,from about 50cm from the nose of the board to about 15cm from front footstrap(to the nose's end)

ok now i get it

it sounds like your board is not feathering this is a terminology

used to describe the trim of the board in the water you need to get the board as light as a feather in the water this you do by having the right combination of all kit eg fin sail boom height harnss line length track placement it goes on

please will you give me some more specifics on your set up

fin length v wind strength

sail size v wind strength

track placement (estimate position in track by% from front of track)

boom heght v your height

harness lie length

all this must be as you would sail during having your problems

ok jaco it is difficult for me to be spot on here as i dont watch you sailing all i would say is try to conentrate on keeping the board as flat as possible not rocking from rail to rail if any thing try to keep a little windward lift on the board this means lift the rail closest to the wind slightly this will give you incredible lift resulting in the feathering technique i spoke about you may need to go up a bit in fin size try it

by keepig the board flat to windward lift you will be constantly be forcing the board to feather resulting in higher speed and more control

give me some feed back if you try this

next time you are down we can spend some time on this
